SKion GmbH is the evergreen investment holding of German entrepreneur Susanne Klatten, founded in 2006 after the sale of ALTANA Pharma yielded a special dividend of 2.4 billion euros. Headquartered in Bad Homburg, SKion holds long-term direct stakes (typically significant minority positions above 25 percent, or full ownership) in industrial, specialty-chemicals, water-technology, energy-storage and recycling companies with revenues between 50 and 500 million euros, with an investment horizon of a decade and beyond. Its cornerstone holding is 100 percent of specialty-chemicals group ALTANA AG, alongside an anchor stake in SGL Carbon and a dedicated SKion Water platform.
