Deep Ocean Capital SGR S.p.A. is an independent Italian asset manager founded in 2021 and based in Rome, authorised as an SGR under Art. 35 TUF and entered in the AIFM section of the register under number 203. The firm is a pure-play deep tech venture capital manager: it backs seed and selected Series A companies, usually university and research spin-offs from bodies such as CNR, IIT, Scuola Normale Superiore and Politecnico di Milano, at the point where they reach product-market fit and start to scale. Its investment perimeter covers space economy and aerospace, healthcare and sustainability, and the key enabling technologies underpinning them, including photonics, quantum technologies, advanced materials, neuromorphic sensing, cyber security and AI. Deep Ocean Capital manages the Deep Blue Ventures fund, launched in 2023 with the European Investment Fund and CDP Venture Capital as cornerstone investors, alongside a dedicated space vehicle called Deep Blue Ventures Space. The manager applies what it calls the Deep Tech Factory model, an ecosystem approach combining financial and industrial support with partners including Leonardo, the European Space Agency and the I3P incubator of Politecnico di Torino.
