Origine SGR S.p.A. is a Milan-based Italian asset manager running a multi-asset private markets platform across venture capital and private equity from Via Napo Torriani 31. It is not a new manager: it is Innogest Capital SGR renamed. Innogest was founded in 2006 by Claudio Giuliano and became one of Italy's earliest institutional venture capital houses, raising Innogest Capital I in 2007 and closing Innogest Capital II at EUR 85m in September 2015, with a book concentrated in medtech, life sciences and Italian digital. At the end of May 2025, after Bank of Italy clearance, Giuliano and Richard Ernest Belluzzo sold the entire management company to Origine Srl, a vehicle controlled by Roberto Sambuco through THXD Srl. Because the SGR itself changed hands and changed name, the pre-existing venture funds and their portfolio were never transferred to another manager, which is why holdings dating from 2007 onwards sit under the Origine brand today. Sambuco, previously Senior Managing Director at Macquarie Capital, Senior Partner at Vitale and Co and head of the telecommunications department at the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, is CEO, with Giuseppe Donagemma as chairman. The legacy venture book is now in divestment and value creation. The private equity arm runs Origine Growth PE Fund, a PIR-compliant generalist vehicle launched in October 2025 with a EUR 400m final target, writing EUR 20 to 45m equity tickets in Italian SMEs across agrifood and agri-tech, technology and business transformation, energy transition, and aerospace, defence and safety. It announced its first close and its first deal together in June 2026.
