HBL InvestmentPartners is a Frankfurt-based small-mid buyout firm founded in 2018 that pools capital from successful German entrepreneurial families to acquire majority stakes in DACH mid-market companies, typically investing up to EUR 20 million of equity (exceptionally up to EUR 50 million) in succession, growth, spin-off and selective restructuring situations. Co-founded by Dr. Peter Hammermann, who built the German business of Barclays Private Equity (now Equistone) and ran it until 2011, together with cf:M partners Jens Bender and Joerg Leussink, the firm has built platforms concentrated in industrial and environmental services including water and wastewater technology, telecom infrastructure and construction. Because it deploys permanent family capital rather than a closed-end fund, HBL operates as an evergreen holding, having completed several platform investments and add-on acquisitions since its first deal in July 2018.
