Berliner Volksbank Ventures is the corporate venture capital arm of Berliner Volksbank eG, one of Germany's largest regional cooperative banks, founded in October 2015 to take minority stakes as lead or co-investor in early-stage fintech, proptech and B2B SaaS startups with initial tickets of EUR 0.25-1.0 million. Its first CVC vehicle deployed around EUR 20 million from the bank's balance sheet into companies such as figo, LIQID, inventorum, flexperto, PlanRadar and Tradeplus24. In 2020 the activity was institutionalised as the VR Ventures fund (Berliner Volksbank anchoring EUR 10 million alongside other cooperative Volksbanken and a life insurer), managed jointly with Redstone's fintech team. In May 2025, after ten years of cooperation, the management company VR Ventures Management was rebranded Redstone Fintech Management with Redstone taking a majority stake, and a third fund, Redstone Fintech and Beyond Fund III, was launched targeting EUR 100 million with Berliner Volksbank as anchor.
