About WestBridge Fund Managers

WestBridge Fund Managers Limited is an independent UK lower mid-market private equity firm. The firm operates from offices in London (North Audley Street in Mayfair), Cardiff and Manchester, with London as the primary base. WestBridge was established in 2008 when WestBridge Capital LLP acquired Wales Fund Managers (founded 1994 in Cardiff) and rebranded it under the WestBridge banner. The firm operates as a limited liability partnership regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority. As of late 2024, WestBridge manages three primary buyout fund vehicles: WestBridge SME Fund (Fund I), WestBridge II at GBP 100 million, and WestBridge III which closed at its GBP 220 million hard cap (more than double the size of its predecessor and a 100 percent step-up driven in part by the success of the APEM Group investment). WestBridge III has so far deployed approximately 40 percent of its capital across four platform companies. Aggregate assets under management across the WestBridge platform sit in the GBP 320 to 350 million range (roughly €380 to €420 million as of December 2024). The senior team brings over 100 years of cumulative investment experience and works directly with portfolio management teams.

Investment thesis

WestBridge Fund Managers targets control buyouts of profitable lower mid-market UK companies, typically founder-owned or management-owned businesses at an inflection point. The firm focuses on B2B companies in growing niches including services, technology-enabled services, environmental consulting, healthcare services, retail technology, energy services and professional services. Target companies typically generate GBP 2 to 8 million of EBITDA, placing WestBridge firmly in the sub-GBP 100 million enterprise value bracket. Geographic remit is exclusively the United Kingdom, leveraging the multi-office footprint across London, Cardiff and Manchester to source proprietary deals across all UK regions. Ticket sizes generally range from GBP 10 to 30 million of equity per platform with capacity for meaningful follow-on capital. The limited partner base spans UK and European institutional investors, fund-of-funds, family offices and high-net-worth individuals, with WestBridge III in particular attracting a more institutional cohort given its scale. Value creation is built around sector insight, board-level operational input and a hands-on partnership model with portfolio CEOs. The firm emphasises buy-and-build execution, professionalisation of finance and reporting, internationalisation, and operational scaling. Senior principals are personally engaged on every deal with no junior intermediation.
