About Funding London

Funding London is London's economic development venture investor with approximately £150 million across managed funds as of December 2024, headquartered in London at 330 Holborn Gate, High Holborn. The firm was founded in 2004 and is backed by the Greater London Authority and the Mayor of London, operating as a state-backed evergreen venture vehicle funded by the UK Government and the Mayor of London.

Investment thesis

Funding London deploys capital through approximately three to four funds (Greater London Investment Fund £100 million, London Co-Investment Fund plus loan sub-funds), targeting fund-of-funds and co-investment that deploys venture equity and SME loan capital into early-stage London businesses to bridge the funding gap, with emphasis on backing underrepresented founders. Sector focus spans fintech, AI and generative AI, energy efficiency and cleantech, supply chain tech, deep tech and software. Geographic deployment is Greater London only. The platform channels public capital and crowds in private co-investment for capital-constrained London startups.

Recent activity

Recent realised exits include autonomy and computer-vision software (2025) plus two earlier GLIF portfolio exits (2024). Recent acquisitions include a generative-AI video platform co-investment, wealthtech and investment-infrastructure (2024-2025) and pre-seed fintech (2024). The platform continues active deployment across the Greater London early-stage mandate. Detailed buyer names and multiple data available on Pro at €29/month.
