About Cibus Capital
Cibus Capital is a pure-play sustainable food and agriculture investor with more than $1 billion of cumulative capital raised as of December 2024 (Fund II vintage closed March 2024 at approximately $645 million combined: Cibus Fund II ~$510 million plus Cibus Enterprise Fund II ~$135 million), headquartered in London at 4 Sloane Terrace. The firm was founded in 2016 by Robert Appleby (ex-co-founder and joint-CIO of ADM Capital) and operates as a partner-owned independent investment advisor (Cibus Capital LLP advises the Cibus funds).
Investment thesis
Cibus Capital deploys capital through approximately four vehicles (Cibus Fund I and II, Cibus Enterprise I and II, Cibus Carbon plus the non-profit Cibus Foundation), targeting two core strategies: mid-market PE growth and buyout in food production and processing, and late-stage agrifood-technology venture and growth, plus newer natural-capital and carbon vehicles. Sector focus spans food production, food processing, agri-food technology, carbon sequestration and natural capital. Geographic deployment is UK and Europe core, expanding to US, Australia and New Zealand. The platform balances financial return with measurable environmental and food-system impact.
Recent activity
Recent realised exits include olive-oil and food production (2023, most recent disclosed exit), with limited 2024-2026 exit activity as the latest fund is in active deployment. Recent acquisitions include stone-fruit genetics and agri-food (2025), farming-robotics agri-tech and a majority stake in vegetable-production genetics (2025). The platform continues active deployment of Fund II across the sustainable food and agriculture mandate. Detailed buyer names and multiple data available on Pro at €29/month.
