Alta Life Sciences
Alta Life Sciences is a Barcelona-based life-sciences venture capital firm founded in 2016 by Guy Nohra, co-founder of San Francisco's Alta Partners, conceived as a bridge between Spanish scientific innovation and Silicon Valley venture expertise. It invests in early and growth-stage biotech, medtech, diagnostics and digital-health companies through a single vehicle, Alta Life Sciences Spain I FCR, which closed with 72.4 million euros of committed capital and was managed via Altamar Private Equity SGIIC. Its team included General Partners Montserrat Vendrell and Miguel Valls and Partner Jose Antonio Mesa. The platform was later rebranded Aliath Bioventures, and in October 2025 AltamarCAM and Asabys Partners agreed to integrate it into Asabys, with the two firms jointly co-managing the fund. Its most notable exit was Sanifit, acquired by Vifor Pharma in 2021.
