Sienna Private Equity is the direct private equity arm of Sienna Investment Managers, the asset-management platform of Groupe Bruxelles Lambert. It was established in 2022 when a six-person team led by Vincent Catherine and Hugo d'Avout d'Auerstaedt spun out of Oaktree Capital Management and joined Sienna Investment Managers. The team operates from Paris and Milan. Sienna Investment Managers as a whole oversaw more than €40 billion at year-end December 2024. Sienna Private Equity operates one fund vehicle, Sienna Private Equity Fund I, a direct-investment buyout fund rather than a fund-of-funds, seeded by Groupe Bruxelles Lambert with €200 million and subsequently securing more than €400 million in total commitments.
Sienna Private Equity runs a mid-cap buyout strategy, taking control or significant positions in established European mid-market companies and building sector leaders through buy-and-build platforms. The firm describes its mandate as all-weather and flexible, not tied to a single sector, with recent activity spanning professional services, industrial and environmental services, apparel manufacturing and talent and entertainment. Geography is Europe, with a particular focus on France and Italy reflecting the Paris and Milan offices. The fund is anchored by Groupe Bruxelles Lambert as cornerstone investor and complemented by third-party institutional limited partners. Value creation rests on operational development, buy-and-build aggregation of fragmented sectors, and a stated emphasis on responsible and purpose-driven investing carried over from the Sienna Investment Managers and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert platform.
Recent investments include Eight Advisory in professional services and financial advisory (2023), ECT Group in environmental services and soil upcycling, Ateliers Veneti in apparel manufacturing (2025) through the buy-and-build of Prima, One Company and Vicenza Mode, and Independent Talent Group in talent and entertainment (2025). No exits have been recorded, as Fund I is young and still in its investment period. The platform continues to deploy across European mid-market buyouts.
