DPI (Distributions to Paid-In)
DPI · A metric measuring the cumulative distributions returned to LPs relative to the capital they have paid into the fund. A DPI above 1.0x means LPs have received more cash than they invested.
Example
A 2014-vintage fund has paid €1.5B in distributions back to LPs who collectively contributed €1B. The DPI is 1.5x · LPs have already received 1.5 times the cash they invested, with any remaining unrealized value still to come.
