Ownership journey

DPA Microphones was founded in Kokkedal, Denmark in 1992 by Ole Brosted Sorensen and Morten Stove, two former Bruel & Kjaer engineers who set out to turn measurement microphone expertise into professional audio products. Palladio Holding first took a minority position in the business in 2017, and in 2023 it moved to full control, taking over DPA as a standalone platform and backing a new headquarters in Kokkedal. Palladio held the company as permanent capital and, in 2026, exited via a trade sale. Consistent with the site's disclosure policy, the acquiring party in that exit is not named here.

Under PE ownership

Under Palladio's ownership DPA pursued an expansion agenda combining product development with bolt-on acquisition. The company relocated to new headquarters in Kokkedal to support growth, and it broadened its technology base, launching CORE+ and its N-Series digital wireless microphone system in 2025. In the same year DPA acquired a majority stake in the Austrian microphone and headphone maker Austrian Audio, extending its reach into adjacent professional audio categories. By the time of the 2026 exit, DPA had grown from a specialist capsule manufacturer into a broader professional audio group spanning wired and wireless microphone systems.
