Buyout
Buyout · An acquisition strategy where a PE fund takes a controlling stake in a company, often using a combination of equity and debt financing. Buyouts can be management-led (MBO) or leveraged (LBO).
Example
A PE firm acquires 100% of a mid-market industrial company for €400M, replaces the management team to drive operational improvements, and sells the company five years later for €700M, generating a 1.75x return on equity invested.
