About Siare
Siare Engineering International Group is an Italian medical device manufacturer that designs and produces electromedical equipment for anaesthesia and resuscitation, alongside ventilation systems and accessories for the assistance and control of pulmonary ventilation. Its equipment is used in operating theatres, intensive care units and emergency services, and the company is regarded as one of the leading Italian operators in the intensive care medical devices segment and the country's largest maker of hospital ventilators. Siare distinguishes itself through in house hardware and software development and a flexible production system, selling through a distributor network that covers 85 countries, with roughly 80 percent of revenue generated internationally. The firm gained wide public attention in 2020, when the Italian government asked it to sharply increase ventilator output from about 125 units a month during the COVID-19 emergency, an effort supported by a partnership with FCA and military logistics that helped push production past 3,000 ventilators in a matter of months.
Ownership journey
Siare was founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Preziosa in the Bologna area, at Crespellano-Valsamoggia, where it remains headquartered. On 19 May 2023 the Silver Economy Fund, the private equity fund of Quadrivio Group dedicated to companies serving the Silver Age and longevity market, acquired a majority stake in Siare International Engineering S.r.l. As part of the transaction, founder Giuseppe Preziosa was retained as President while Paolo Suzzani was appointed Managing Director. Quadrivio's Silver Economy Fund remains an active shareholder and Siare is still listed as a current portfolio company; no exit or secondary transaction has been recorded.
Under PE ownership
The Silver Economy Fund's investment thesis centred on rapidly scaling the business, strengthening its commercial and distribution network and pursuing consolidation of the sector in Italy and abroad through complementary acquisitions and organic growth. Under the new ownership Siare kept its founder in the chair and added a dedicated managing director to lead the expansion agenda. In 2024 the company marked 50 years of operation and secured certification under the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR), reinforcing its regulatory footing for continued international sales. The buy and build and commercial expansion programme set out at entry is still in its early phase, consistent with the 2023 timing of the transaction.
