About Pixartprinting
Pixartprinting is an Italian online printing company, a pioneer of the web-to-print model in Europe, operating an e-commerce platform through which businesses, graphic professionals and resellers order customized printed matter and have it produced on demand. Founded in 1994 and based in the Venice area at Quarto d'Altino, the company built a centralized industrial print operation that aggregates thousands of individual jobs into batched production runs, covering business cards, flyers, catalogues, magazines, large-format banners, signage, labels, packaging and textile printing. It positions itself as a volume-driven, technology-led printer serving customers across Italy, Spain, France and the wider European market rather than a traditional local print shop. The proposition combines a broad online product catalogue, short turnaround times and competitive pricing achieved through automation of the order-to-print workflow.
Ownership journey
Pixartprinting was founded in 1994 by Matteo Rigamonti and grew into one of Italy's early online printing platforms during the 2000s. In 2011 the Italian private-equity manager Alcedo, investing through its Alcedo III fund, acquired a majority stake of around 75 percent, backing a business that had reached roughly EUR 32 million of revenue that year, up about 40 percent on 2010. Alcedo held the investment as the platform scaled its European reach and industrial capacity. The fund exited in 2014 via a trade sale, and no further sponsor is named here.
Under PE ownership
The 2011 investment supported an expansion of Pixartprinting's commercial reach beyond Italy into Spain, France and other European markets, alongside continued build-out of its automated web-to-print production. Under Alcedo's ownership the company sustained rapid top-line growth, with revenue rising from about EUR 32 million in 2011 to roughly EUR 56 million in 2013, an increase of more than 35 percent year on year. Its customer base grew to more than 100,000 accounts, served from the centralized Veneto production site with a workforce of several hundred people by the time of the exit. That growth trajectory established Pixartprinting as one of the leading online printers in Europe and set the stage for its 2014 trade sale.
