About Pibiviesse

Pibiviesse is an Italian industrial valve maker headquartered in Nerviano, near Milan, that engineers manual and automated on-off and control ball valves for severe-service energy applications. Its range spans ambient, low-temperature and high-temperature designs, top-entry and side-entry configurations, and subsea, floating, three-way and double-block-and-bleed variants, supplied to offshore and onshore projects including production platforms, FPSO and FLNG units, LNG plants, refining, petrochemicals, power generation and desalination. The company sells largely through international EPC contractors and is recognised for customising valves to critical, high-specification duties. It operates at specialist scale, with a workforce of roughly 90 people and annual revenue in the region of 20 to 25 million dollars.

Ownership journey

Pibiviesse traces its origins to 1981, when it was established as PBV, and it built its reputation over the following decades as an engineered ball-valve producer for the oil and gas sector, passing through a succession of corporate owners including Watts Industries and later the US-listed flow-control group CIRCOR. In August 2019 CIRCOR carved the business out and sold it to Certina Holding, the German evergreen industrial holding company, which placed Pibiviesse within its Flow Control division alongside its existing control-valve operations. Certina held the asset as a standalone unit intended to capture synergies in sales, sourcing, product range and R&D across the division. Certina exited Pibiviesse in 2023 via a trade sale.

Under PE ownership

Under Certina's ownership the business was reset as an independent company after years inside a larger listed portfolio, with the stated aim of realising operational improvement and cross-selling potential alongside the group's other flow-control brands. Certina positioned Pibiviesse to share sales channels, procurement, product development and engineering resources with sister businesses in its Flow Control division rather than operating in isolation. Over the holding period the company continued to serve its core severe-service energy markets, from subsea and LNG to refining and power, as a focused engineered-valve specialist. By the time of Certina's 2023 exit the business remained a going concern of roughly 90 employees at its Nerviano site, retaining its brand and technical franchise in high-specification ball valves.
