About Modulblok
Modulblok is an Italian manufacturer of industrial storage systems and warehouse logistics solutions, headquartered in Pagnacco in the province of Udine, with a production plant at Amaro in the same region. Its range spans pallet racking, drive-in, push-back and shuttle systems, cantilever racking, industrial mezzanines, light-duty shelving, rack-supported warehouses and automated storage, backed by in-house structural design and warehouse layout engineering. The company positions itself in the medium-heavy, seismic-resistant load segment, where product quality and production efficiency are its stated points of differentiation. It operates roughly 25,000 square metres of manufacturing capacity and, per company disclosures, counts more than 18,000 installations worldwide serving thousands of client companies each year. In 2022 Modulblok reported consolidated revenue of about EUR 45 million and EBITDA of roughly EUR 6.8 million.
Ownership journey
Modulblok was founded in 1976 in the Udine area and built over subsequent decades into a specialist in racking and storage systems, expanding into logistics automation through its majority holding in Logaut, controlled since 2019. The business was held by sole shareholder Mauro Savio until June 2023, when Equinox, investing through its Equinox Three fund, acquired a 60 percent stake, with Savio retaining the remaining 40 percent and continuing in the business to preserve operational continuity. Equinox Three had raised more than EUR 360 million from Italian institutional investors, private investors and family offices, alongside the European Investment Fund. Equinox remains an active shareholder and no exit or secondary transaction has been recorded.
Under PE ownership
The 2023 investment was framed around accelerating growth and launching a buy-and-build programme, with the explicit aim of consolidating the fragmented Italian market and establishing Modulblok as a reference aggregator in the medium-heavy, seismic-resistant load segment. Equinox and management set out to reinforce the company's leadership on product quality and manufacturing efficiency while pursuing add-on acquisitions to scale the platform. The strategy also leans on the earlier integration of Logaut to broaden the offering from static racking into fully automated modular logistics systems. As the transaction completed in mid-2023 with continuity of the founding shareholder, the investment is still in its build phase under Equinox's ownership.
