About Kaia Energy

Kaia Energy is a Munich-based independent power producer that develops and operates integrated renewable energy portfolios across Germany, combining onshore wind, solar and battery energy storage systems into coordinated, flexibility-oriented infrastructure. Rather than building standalone generation, the company designs its portfolios around how assets work together, pairing generation with storage and commercialization to deliver a more flexible, reliable and demand-driven supply. It positions itself for what its backers call the next phase of the energy transition, where value comes from system-level optimization and dispatchable, customer-aligned power rather than incremental capacity. As a newly formed platform, Kaia has not disclosed revenue or headcount figures.

Ownership journey

Kaia Energy was launched in 2025 as a company-building platform of GREENPEAK Partners, a Munich private equity firm founded in 2015 that specializes in development-oriented buy-and-build strategies across the DACH+ region. The platform is backed through GREENPEAK Fund III, which held its final close of roughly EUR 300 million in the first half of 2025 and lifted the firm to over EUR 1 billion in assets under management. The business is led by chief executive Andrea Grotzke, with an investment team drawn from GREENPEAK Infrastructure. GREENPEAK remains the current owner and Kaia is an active portfolio platform; no exit or secondary transaction has been recorded.

Under PE ownership

Since its 2025 launch, Kaia has been assembled as an integrated independent power producer rather than a single-asset developer, building out a portfolio that spans wind, solar and battery storage with hybrid and flexibility potential. It sources projects located close to demand from reVenton, a renewables developer operating as a development partner within the GREENPEAK ecosystem, whose pipeline spans solar and onshore wind projects in Germany reported at around 1.2 GW. That pipeline has been supported by external debt, including a EUR 20 million financing from Eiffel Investment for reVenton's late development and early construction phases. Under GREENPEAK's buy-and-build model, capital is directed at aggregating and operating scalable assets that can be commercialized together, consistent with the firm's track record of building platforms across the DACH+ region.
