About Delinian
Delinian is a London-headquartered B2B information services group that owns a portfolio of businesses providing data, research, benchmarking, accreditation and events to the financial and professional services and asset management industries. Formerly the listed Euromoney Institutional Investor, it operates a family of specialist brands that has at various points included Institutional Investor, Extel, Derivia Intelligence, Euromoney and Euromoney Learning, serving customers across more than 140 countries. Following its take-private the group reported a workforce of roughly 2,200 people spread across North America, South America, Europe and Asia. In its last full year as a public company it generated revenue of about GBP 336 million with close to 2,500 employees, positioning it as one of Europe's larger financial and business information companies.
Ownership journey
The business traces its origins to 1969, when Patrick Sergeant founded Euromoney magazine in London as an international business-to-business publisher focused on global finance, later building out an information services group listed on the London Stock Exchange as a FTSE 250 constituent. In 2022 the company was taken private, with Epiris backing the transaction through Epiris Fund III at an enterprise value of around GBP 1.7 billion, the deal completing in November of that year and removing the group from public markets. In January 2023 the company was renamed Delinian, signalling its repositioning as a privately owned portfolio of information services businesses. Epiris Fund III remains the active majority owner and no exit of the platform has been recorded.
Under PE ownership
Under Epiris ownership the group was reshaped from a single listed publisher into an actively managed portfolio of specialist information services companies, with the Fastmarkets commodities business separated out and the remaining brands consolidated under the Delinian name from 2023. Since the investment the group has pursued a value creation strategy of investing in, growing and selectively divesting its holdings, executing a series of business sales including Institutional Investor and other units, each exited via trade sale or secondary transaction. The portfolio has been streamlined toward higher-margin data, research and accreditation franchises serving financial and professional services clients. Management has continued to run the group across its London and New York bases while pruning and refocusing the brand set rather than operating it as a monolithic media company.
