About Corbel Partners
Corbel Partners is a Warrington-based support services group for the UK independent financial advice sector, providing compliance oversight, paraplanning, business development and professional development to advisers who want to remain independent. It operates as a national network of independent financial advisers and has built an in-house adviser platform, Finpath, to standardise technology and back-office processes across its member firms. According to press coverage of the business, the network comprises more than 180 independent financial advisers overseeing around 2.4 billion pounds in client assets, with turnover of about 24 million pounds and a headcount above 50. The group positions itself as a consolidator and long-term home for advisers, offering an internal succession and exit route for retiring principals rather than a conventional brokerage or product manufacturer.
Ownership journey
Corbel Partners was founded in 2004 by Paul Heath and David O'Hara in Warrington, and has supported independent financial advisers since the mid-2000s. From 2023 the group moved into an acquisition-led phase, buying client books and adviser businesses, mostly from within its own network, as part of an independent exit proposition for retiring principals. In 2025 Beechbrook Capital, an SME-focused European private debt specialist, provided a private credit refinancing facility of more than 10 million pounds through its UK SME Credit IV fund. That financing is debt rather than an equity stake, and Corbel Partners remains an independently owned operating business led by its founders; Shaw and Co advised the company on the transaction.
Under PE ownership
The Beechbrook facility was raised to underpin a five-year buy-and-build programme, refinancing earlier borrowing and funding further acquisitions of adviser firms both inside and outside the existing network. By the time the financing was arranged, Corbel had completed its eighteenth acquisition in under three years and had begun rolling out a second phase of its Finpath technology platform. Management set out targets to expand the network to close to 450 advisers, roughly double the headcount, and grow turnover to more than 60 million pounds over the plan period. The capital is therefore directed at operating scale, consolidating fragmented independent advice firms and investing in the group's platform, rather than at a change of control.
