About Bionyra Pharma

Bionyra Pharma is a Paris-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing next-generation biologics for severe immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, built around mono and multispecific antibodies that target novel immune pathways with an initial focus on inflammatory bowel disease and atopic dermatitis. Its pipeline centres on BYN-002, an extended half-life anti-TL1A monoclonal antibody in Phase 1 for inflammatory bowel disease, BYN-003, a TL1A and IL-23p19 bispecific antibody positioned as first and best-in-class that entered Phase 1 in 2026, and BYN-001, an anti-IL-25 monoclonal antibody for atopic dermatitis designed for infrequent, quarterly or twice-yearly, dosing. The company competes in the crowded immunology and inflammation segment against far larger developers, differentiating through a strategy of in-licensing clinically de-risked assets and engineering them for longer dosing intervals. Its June 2026 launch was accompanied by a USD 165 million, roughly EUR 143 million, Series A, described in press coverage as the largest biotech Series A ever raised in France.

Ownership journey

Bionyra Pharma was founded in Paris in August 2025, co-created by Sofinnova Partners and Frederic Marrache, a former head of immunology research and development at Sanofi who serves as chief executive. Sofinnova provided the seed financing and incubated the company within its flagship early-stage biopharma strategy, investing through Sofinnova Capital XI in 2025. In June 2026 the company emerged from stealth with an oversubscribed Series A co-led by Sofinnova Partners and Jeito Capital, which invested through Jeito II, bringing Jeito in as a second lead backer. Additional investors in the round included Arkin Bio, Sanofi Ventures, Sixty Degree Capital, Vives Partners and Apollo Health Ventures. Both Sofinnova Partners and Jeito Capital remain current shareholders, and no exit or secondary transaction has been recorded.

Under PE ownership

Under its founding investors Bionyra assembled its pipeline through in-licensing rather than internal discovery, taking global rights outside Greater China to BYN-002 and BYN-003 from Chinese developer TrueLab Biopharmaceutical and licensing BYN-001 from US-based NovaRock Biotherapeutics. Backed first by Sofinnova's seed capital and then the 2026 Series A, the company advanced BYN-002 into a fully enrolled Phase 1 study and moved BYN-003 into the clinic in 2026, while progressing BYN-001 toward the clinic. Management has earmarked the Series A proceeds to fund clinical readouts across all three programmes through 2027 and 2028, prioritising atopic dermatitis and inflammatory bowel disease. The financing also supports the build-out of the organisation across its Paris base, converting what began as a partner-level thesis inside Sofinnova into a funded, multi-asset clinical company within roughly a year of incorporation.
