About Acclaro
Acclaro is a United States based language services and localization company that helps global brands create, manage and activate multilingual content, combining AI-driven translation with human linguists under the positioning "AI where it's fast, experts where it matters." Its offering spans AI solutions, translation, multimedia orchestration, global marketing and linguistic testing across more than 125 languages, serving clients such as Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Meta, Visa, IBM, Coinbase and Notion. The business operates from offices across the US, Europe, Asia and Latin America, including New York, Boston and the San Francisco Bay Area, with roughly 300 staff. On combined 2022 figures the group generated more than USD 60 million in annual revenue, placing it inside the top 30 of the Slator Language Service Provider Index.
Ownership journey
Acclaro was founded in 2002 by Michael Kriz in New York as a localization specialist, while its eventual merger partner Jonckers had been founded in 1994 in Belgium as a translation-software pioneer. In March 2023 Mayfair Equity Partners, investing through Mayfair Equity Partners III, acquired a majority stake in Jonckers to back a buy-and-build strategy across the fragmented language-services market. In February 2024 Jonckers merged with Acclaro under Mayfair's ownership, forming an AI-enabled language services group, and the combined operation was rebranded under the single Acclaro name in November 2024. Mayfair Equity Partners remains the majority backer and Acclaro is still an active portfolio company; no exit or secondary transaction has been recorded.
Under PE ownership
The 2023 investment was designed to consolidate a fragmented market and build an AI-led localization platform, and the Acclaro-Jonckers combination was described by Mayfair as the ideal first step in that plan. Since the transaction the group has integrated the two businesses, folding Jonckers' translation technology into Acclaro's localization services to create a hybrid AI-plus-human model spanning more than 125 languages. In October 2024 the company appointed Russell Haworth as chief executive, and the enlarged operation was consolidated and rebranded solely as Acclaro the following month. The merged entity combined roughly 300 employees and more than USD 60 million of revenue, ranking among the top 30 providers in the Slator index and broadening its blue-chip client base across technology, e-commerce, travel and media.
