About Westbrooke Alternative Asset Management

Westbrooke Alternative Asset Management is a multi-asset multi-strategy manager and advisor of alternative investment funds and co-investment platforms. The group is headquartered in Johannesburg with offices in London (Malta House on Piccadilly) and Miami. Founded in 2004, the firm crossed the milestone of USD 1 billion in assets under management in 2024 (approximately €900 million equivalent as of December 2024). The UK arm, Westbrooke Alternative Asset Management UK Limited, was incorporated in February 2017 to anchor European deployment. The platform operates seven primary fund vehicles spanning four strategies: private debt (Yield Plus UK, Income Plus SA), hybrid capital (Dynamic Opportunities UK and SA), real estate (USA Residential, USA Tovia Mobile Home Parks), renewable energy (REA SA) and UK Private Equity co-investment. The flagship Yield Plus fund alone held over GBP 226 million by Q3 2024. Westbrooke positions itself as an owner-operator with extensive heritage in fund management.

Investment thesis

Westbrooke targets capital preservation and predictable risk-managed compounding returns across alternatives. Private debt strategies (Yield Plus, Income Plus) finance senior secured property and corporate loans with floating and fixed-rate structures roughly equal-weighted. The UK private equity strategy partners with experienced sponsors on co-investments into UK lower mid-market businesses with EBITDA of GBP 3 to 10 million, prioritising structurally advantaged models with high margins, low capital intensity and predictable revenue. Target sectors include fragmented niches in B2C consumer or B2B (distribution, light manufacturing, processing) with organic plus bolt-on M&A at roughly 2x GDP growth. Hybrid capital (Dynamic Opportunities) addresses dislocation in mid-market capital availability. Geography is UK, USA and South Africa. The limited partner base comprises high-net-worth investors, family offices and institutional capital. Value creation centres on partnership with operationally specialised sponsors and structurally aligned financial interests. Over its 20-year track record the firm reports private equity returns at strong IRR and multiple on invested capital across the strategy.
