Permira is a global private equity firm with more than €80 billion of committed capital as of December 2024 (advancing to €89 billion by end of 2025), headquartered in London with 15 offices globally including Frankfurt, Milan, Madrid, Paris, Luxembourg, Stockholm plus US and Asia hubs. The firm was founded in 1985 as Schroder Ventures Europe before rebranding as Permira in 2001 following its spin-out, and has built deep European brand heritage combined with a strong US footprint. Permira remains a private partnership (unlisted), with Permira VIII closing at €16.7 billion in 2023.

Investment thesis

Permira deploys capital through approximately 25 plus active funds spanning Buyout (flagship Permira funds), Growth Equity (Permira Growth Opportunities) and Credit (Permira Credit Solutions and Liquid Credit), with sector focus across technology, consumer, healthcare and services. The thematic, sector-led 'technology-led transformation' specialism is supported by a 500 plus team operating as a single global partnership, with transatlantic deal flow across Europe and the US. Investment focus emphasises majority and significant minority equity tickets in mid-to-large-cap businesses with multi-decade growth runways.

Recent realised exits include luxury consumer (2026), pharma and healthcare (2025), technology (2025) and consumer (2024). Recent acquisitions include Squarespace (technology take-private, 2024, $7.2 billion), BioCatch (fintech and cybersecurity, 2024, $1.3 billion), K-Way (consumer, 2024), Encore (2025) and The Key (2025).
