The firm was recently established by a team bringing 50 plus years of healthcare expertise and 100 plus venture transaction cycles, operating as an independent partner-led VC (Catalpa Ventures S.à r.l.) currently raising and investing Catalpa Health Fund I with initial tickets of €0.3-1.5 million plus follow-on reserves.

Investment thesis

Catalpa Ventures deploys capital through one fund (Catalpa Health Fund I), targeting first-cheque and early-stage venture investing in healthtech startups addressing demographic shift, healthcare workforce shortages and rising costs. Sector focus is exclusively healthtech spanning digital health, diagnostics, care delivery and biomarker and AI-enabled health. Geographic deployment is extended Europe with emphasis on DACH, Benelux and emerging innovation hubs. The platform positions itself as a pure-play healthtech seed investor and the first institutional backer of very early-stage European health startups.

Recent activity

As an early-stage fund still being deployed, Catalpa Ventures has no realised exits to date. Recent investments include cardiac biomarker detection (Noah Labs) and diagnostic-testing integration (Remi Health).
