About Zauber
Zauber is a Berlin-based logistics-technology company building what it calls an AI operating system for freight forwarding, embedding self-learning software agents into the daily workflows of sea and air freight operations. The platform is designed to automate routine, high-volume tasks such as shipment tracking, exception handling and the processing of unstructured freight data, so that human operators can spend more time on customer relationships rather than manual coordination. It targets freight forwarders, the intermediaries that organise and manage global shipments, a segment long dependent on email, spreadsheets and legacy transport-management systems. As an early-stage company founded only recently, Zauber has not disclosed revenue, headcount or customer figures, and positions itself as an AI-first challenger to incumbent freight-operations software.
Ownership journey
Zauber was founded in Berlin in 2024 by Erik Muttersbach, previously a co-founder and chief product officer of the digital freight forwarder Forto, which he helped scale past 1,000 employees before leaving at the end of 2024. The company operated quietly through early 2025 while assembling a team that includes former Forto operators, and in September 2025 it disclosed a pre-seed financing round led by the Berlin early-stage venture firm Point Nine Capital, investing from its sixth fund, alongside Forto co-founder Michael Wax as an angel investor. Point Nine backs the company as a minority venture investor rather than an owner, and no controlling stake, secondary transaction or exit has been recorded. The founder and team retain operational control of the business.
Under PE ownership
The 2025 pre-seed capital was raised to build out the product and recruit engineering and logistics talent as Zauber moves from concept to a working platform for freight forwarders. Since the investment the company has narrowed its focus to AI agents for sea and air freight operations, embedding generative-AI-driven automation across tracking, exception management and document-heavy workflows. It has continued hiring through late 2025, drawing on operators experienced in scaling digital freight forwarding. Because the company remains at the pre-seed stage, its measurable impact so far is in team formation and product development rather than disclosed revenue or customer scale.
