About Prescom

Prescom is a French business-to-business technology company that designs, integrates and maintains unified critical communication systems for the control and command rooms of organisations where communication cannot fail. Headquartered in Montigny-le-Bretonneux in the Paris region, its product range spans integrated dispatch consoles and operator stations, voice and video recording, and PMR-LTE/MCPTT gateways serving public safety, civil protection, emergency medical services, maritime operations, airports, public transport, infrastructure and defence. The company reports more than 300 clients across five continents, roughly 500 equipped control rooms and about 4,500 operator stations in service, and it counts the large majority of France's fire-and-rescue and emergency medical centres among its users. It positions itself as a specialised, high-availability partner in a niche where reliability and long-cycle maintenance, rather than volume, define the market.

Ownership journey

Prescom was founded in 1982 and built its historic research and development centre in Lannion in 1988, drawing on the region's telecommunications expertise. In 2017 Erik Le Roy and several associates took control of the company through a management buy-in carried out alongside Generis Capital Partners and private investors. Generis Capital Partners exited in 2022 via a secondary transaction, after roughly five years as a shareholder. In the same 2022 operation NCI invested through its Reprendre & Developper 5 vehicle, taking a minority stake of around EUR 3 million as the fund's fourth deal, with Erik Le Roy becoming majority shareholder alongside commercial director Stephane Romanowski and additional managers taking equity. NCI remains an active backer and no further transaction has been recorded.

Under PE ownership

At the time of the 2022 investment Prescom generated around EUR 9 million in annual revenue with about 70 employees, exported roughly 20 percent of sales and reinvested close to 20 percent of turnover into research and development. The capital was structured to support continued growth, international expansion and diversification into adjacent markets such as transport, while reinforcing management ownership of the business. The company maintains a substantial installed base, equipping more than 400 control rooms and supporting some 400 systems on a round-the-clock basis, which anchors a recurring maintenance relationship with its critical-infrastructure customers. Its Lannion R&D team, employing around 20 people, remains central to sustaining the product roadmap across recording, dispatch and next-generation LTE communication gateways.
