About Go City

Go City is a London-based travel technology company that sells multi-attraction sightseeing passes, letting tourists visit museums, tours, shows and landmarks in a destination for a single fixed price through a mobile app and pre-purchased digital pass. It offers two main formats, an all-inclusive pass covering unlimited entry within a set number of days and an explorer pass allowing a chosen number of attractions, and positions itself as the world's largest provider of city attraction passes. Per company and press disclosures, Go City operates across roughly 30 cities spanning multiple continents, serves more than 7.5 million active users, and sells around 700,000 passes a year, with offices in the UK, New York, Boston, Berlin, Singapore and Seoul.

Ownership journey

The business was founded in London in 1999 as The Leisure Pass Group by Angus Rankine and Andrew Grahame, launching The London Pass as its first product that year and later adding The New York Pass and other city passes. Primary Capital acquired the company in 2012 and held it until Exponent Private Equity completed its acquisition on 12 December 2016, investing through Exponent Private Equity Partners III and building on the firm's prior tourism experience with Big Bus Tours. At acquisition the group operated in 19 cities across Europe and the US and was projected to sell over 780,000 passes that year. Exponent remains the current equity owner, and the company continues to trade under the Go City brand it adopted in 2021.

Under PE ownership

Under Exponent's ownership the company consolidated the fragmented attraction-pass market, combining The Leisure Pass Group with the US-based Smart Destinations and Go City Card operations to create a single global platform. In July 2021 the group rebranded from Leisure Pass Group to Go City, unifying its previously separate city-pass brands under one consumer name and app. Since the 2016 investment the business has expanded its footprint from 19 cities to roughly 30 destinations across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, adding markets such as Dubai, Singapore, Sydney and Cancun. It has continued to invest in its digital pass and app experience while scaling to more than 7.5 million active users and around 700,000 passes sold annually.
