About BXTAccelyon
BXTAccelyon is a United Kingdom based specialist medtech distribution and services company focused on the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, headquartered in Burnham. Its core business is the supply of patient-specific low dose rate brachytherapy, a targeted radioactive seed therapy for early stage prostate cancer, delivered to the National Health Service and to public and private hospitals through term supply contracts. Around this therapy franchise the company has assembled a broader uro-oncology portfolio, distributing the PrecisionPoint transperineal biopsy access system for outpatient prostate biopsies under local anaesthetic, the MRI PRO online self-learning diagnostic tool, and its own WebBXT treatment planning software. According to its own disclosures, the company's products have been used to treat more than 180,000 patients across some 415 hospitals worldwide, positioning it as a market leading, dedicated brachytherapy provider rather than a diversified device group.
Ownership journey
BXTAccelyon was established in the United Kingdom in 2013 by industry executives Malcolm Hughes and Saheed Rashid, who built the business as a focused brachytherapy specialist for the treatment of early stage prostate cancer. In August 2013 Elysian Capital backed the formation as a growth capital investment through its Elysian Capital I fund, taking a majority stake alongside the founding management team, with Saheed Rashid continuing as chief executive. Elysian remained the sponsor across a long hold, supporting the company as it broadened from a single therapy into a wider uro-oncology diagnostics and treatment portfolio. In June 2026 Elysian Capital exited the business via a management buyout, concluding its ownership after roughly thirteen years.
Under PE ownership
Under the investment the company scaled from a newly formed brachytherapy specialist into a market leading uro-oncology distribution and services business with an international footprint. It won significant contract tenders across the United Kingdom and Ireland, expanded into Australia, New Zealand and the Benelux region, and built a multi-year forward order book underpinning recurring supply. The portfolio was widened through the acquisition of WebBXT, a brachytherapy-specific software provider, and through exclusive international distribution rights, outside the Americas, for the PrecisionPoint biopsy device, extending the company from therapy into diagnosis. It further added the MRI PRO prostate MRI e-learning platform as a global distribution partner, deepening its position across the prostate cancer care pathway by the time of the 2026 exit.
