About Arvos Group
Arvos Group is a Heidelberg-based industrial technology company that designs and manufactures heat-transfer and emissions-control equipment for the power generation, petrochemical and process industries. Its Ljungstrom division supplies rotary air preheaters and gas-gas heaters that recover flue-gas heat to raise thermal efficiency and reduce emissions at power and industrial plants, while its Schmidt'sche Schack division builds process heat exchangers and waste-heat recovery systems for chemical, petrochemical and metallurgical customers. The group traces its core brands back more than a century and positions them as technology and market leaders in their niches. It runs six manufacturing facilities worldwide, supported by sales offices across Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States, and employs more than 1,000 people.
Ownership journey
Arvos Group was created in 2014 when it was carved out of the Thermal Power division of France's Alstom, bringing together the Ljungstrom, Schmidt'sche Schack and Raymond Bartlett Snow product lines under a single independent platform. Triton Partners completed the acquisition through its Triton Fund IV in September 2014, taking on a business that had generated revenues in excess of EUR 400 million in the fiscal year to March 2014 and employed more than 1,700 people across sites in Germany, the United States, Japan, China, India, Brazil, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Triton established the company's headquarters in Heidelberg and set out to run it as a standalone specialist rather than a corporate subsidiary. Triton Fund IV remains the backer of record, and Arvos is still listed as a current Triton portfolio company, with no exit or secondary transaction recorded.
Under PE ownership
Under Triton's ownership Arvos sharpened its focus on its core heat-transfer franchises and streamlined the portfolio it had inherited from Alstom. In 2018 it divested its Raymond Bartlett Snow division, the size-reduction and thermal-processing equipment business, through a trade sale, concentrating the group around the Ljungstrom and Schmidt'sche Schack brands. The company reoriented its Ljungstrom offering toward energy efficiency, flue-gas heat recovery and emissions reduction as its power-generation customers faced tightening environmental standards. Headcount has since settled at more than 1,000 employees across six global manufacturing sites, reflecting a leaner and more focused platform than the one Triton acquired in 2014.
